the collection - part 3

So here's the third outfit from my collection, a white dress with black details by the pockets. It has cups and in the back there's a cutout.

I'm not sure, but I think this is my favourite piece from the collection. Now I've showed four garments (three outfits) and I have three garments (two outfits) left. Hope you like it!

the collection - part 1

Here's the first outfit from my collection. It's a black waist-short top with cups and it also has a transparent detail in the back, but I couldn't catch it in the photos. The top is paired with a pair of white high waisted shorts with big pockets and black details.

More garments from the collection will come.

sneak peek

While waiting for more photos of my collection from the show, I have a little sneak peek of two outfits from my collection that were in the local newspaper this morning. I stole the picture from their website.

As you can see, it is a dress and a top and a pair of shorts. And half a dress too. :) I've sewn seven garments from the eleven-piece collection, I hope I can show you the rest soon too. And then I have a ball gown to show too!

fashion show

I just got home from the fashion show where I've been all day. It was great. I showed my collection and I got so many nice words from people who were at the show. I'll show photos when I've got some!

About everything

Okay, not much update here lately! But I have the usuall excuse, it's been so much to do and I've been so tired. But, here I am.

I've been asked to show the ball gown I'm making, and I will do that when it's ready. And the same with my collection.

Me and two friends have a project in school where we've been collecting clothes and today we've been packing a trailer ful with the clothes and early tomorrow we're going to an orphanage in Riga with them. I hope that they get happy and that we will succeed. We're gonna stay for the weekend, so tonight will be all about packing and preparing. I'm really excited!

And in less than a month, I'm graduating from school and I become free! And in the end of june, I'm going to Barcelona to spend the summer there, working as an au pair and enjoying the city. I can't wait!

After the summer, I have a little project going on, but I tell you more about that later when I know more.

So, that was all I wanted to say right now. And let's hope for more updates here in the future :) Have a great weekend, I will!

All the drawings are made by Anna, my sister.

What I have done

As you might have noticed, I haven'n been here for a while now. It's because I've had crazy much to do and nothing to write about. So what have I done since last time?
  • been sick for a week
  • studied
  • almost finished a dress for my aunt
  • started sewing on a ball-gown for a friend
  • studied some more

Since not much sewing for myself has happened lately, I'll show you this shirt I made a couple of years ago instead.

Hope you're all good!

Bicycles

I've been wondering what to do with this fabric for a while now, but then I saw a pattern in burda style and immediately saw it in this fabric. So this is not my own pattern for this once, and I think it turned out great. I can immagine it in the summer paired with a bikini top and a pair of shorts. Can't wait for summer!!

Sacha asked me to show more pictures of the dress in my previous post, and here it is, my black flower-dress:

Yesterday I made a vest/dress. I'll probably show you some pics tomorrow.

Tutorial: bodice with sweetheart neckline

So finally, the tutorial! The third alternative got the most votes, so here we go.

The top of this dress is made from this pattern.

We're starting with the basic bodice sloper. There might be a pattern at burda style, but I'm not sure.

Let's start with the front.

Connect the two darts. Measure 8 cm from the bust point (the point of the dart atop). Draw a line to the center front. Measure down around 4-6 cm, depending on how deep you want the upper edge to be, and make a mark. Form the upper edge with a curve. The dart shall be moved 1 cm to the right like shown in the picture.

Make the dart around 3 cm (I accidentally made it 2 cm, but I think 3 is better). Make sure the two sides of the dart got the same lenght. And draw the line in a soft curve.

And for the side, measure 1 cm in and 1 cm up and draw a line down to the waist.

Connect the dart with the side line.

Then form the right side of the lower dart with a curved line like in the picture.

The front is ready.

And then we take the back.

Make a support line straight over the bodice from underneath the armhole and another one straight through the dart.

Measure 1 cm in and 1 cm up from the support line in the side. Draw a line to the waist and make sure that it has the same lenght as the side line on the front.

Measure 0,5 cm on each side of the line you made through the dart and draw lines to the bottom of the dart. This is now the new dart.

Measure 1 cm down frome the support line and form the upper edge like you can see in the picture.

Mark the grainline by making an arrow(?) paralelle to the center front and back.

And now the construction is ready!

Make the pattern pieces. They should look like this. And we're done!

I think the best way to use this pattern is together with a skirt part, so that it becomes a cute little dress. I use to take two rectangles around 60 cm wide and 50 cm long, sew them together, gather in the waist and sew it together with the top.

If you have questions, just ask! It's hard to make a tutorial, especially in english, so some explanations might be a little weird ;)

Anyway, hope you like it! And do tell me if you make something with help from this, I would love to see!

100

This is my 100th post. Yay!

Let's celebrate with a tutorial. You choose one of the three below, and I'll make a tutorial for the one with the most votes as soon as I can. Okay?

Alternative number one:

I'll describe how to sew a simple skirt like this. Or..

Alternative number two:

I'll let you know how to make this dress. Or..

Alternative number three:

I'll teach you how to make a pattern like this from a basic sloper.

Sooo, which one should I make? It's up to you :)

Coral dress remake

This is a dress remake I made a long time ago. I thought I'd already posted it here, but apparently I hadn't.. I bought the dress in a thrift store just to kill it and make it into a new dress.

How I wish it could be spring! I want to be able to go outside the door in a denim jacket and sneakers without getting frozen to death. Or at least I want to be able to put my nose outside the door without getting frozen to death. That'd be something.
