Goodbye!

I've had this blog now for a little more than a year and I've really enjoyed blogging and getting so nice feedback from you readers. But I don't really think it's fun anymore, I feel the pressure on me to update it, but I don't know what to write about, and that gives less readers and zero comments and that means even less boost to update. You see the bad circle? ;)

So the thing I wanted to get to is that I've decided to stop blogging now. Thanks for all the nice words. love ya! If you'd like to keep following my sewing and designing, I still have my burdastyle-account!

xx

Banana split

Banana split must be one of the best desserts ever - it's easy to make and tastes lovely! At least when you make your own chocolate sauce.

Chocolate sauce:
Mix 1 dl water and 1 dl sugar in a pot and let it boil. When boiling, stir down 1 dl cacao in the water. Let it boil until the texture is good. Ready! This gives enough sauce for around 4 portions.

Banana split:
Put vanilla ice cream, sliced banana and whipped cream in bowls and put the chocolate sauce on top. Eat and enjoy!

Here are some newcomers in my fabric stash, everything second hand, €2 each:

Red/pink cotton

Some kind of knit

Some soft cotton(?)

Futuristic shiny silver something. (don't ask why, I just had to have it)

Monkey see monkey do

Two days ago, it was my niece's second birthday. I made a long cozy hoodie for her. It's hard to make clothes for kids when you're used to sew for grown ups, because you don't really know the sizes and I think it's harder to see if it will fit. I haven't given it to her yet, so I keep my fingers crossed that it will fit her. I made the pattern by looking at one of her sweaters. The wristlets and the lining for the hood is reused from a big sweatshirt. Here's the result:

I take the risk that her parents will see this. Livin' on the edge you know ;)

The white one

This is the white summer top I made a couple of months to that I promised to show (the same as the one together with the green shorts) I's my own pattern and it's made of an old curtain.

How to

So this is how I dyed my dress with the tea:
  • Fill a big pot with water and heat it until it's simmering
  • Put some tea-bags (I took 8) in the water
  • Then put the dress in the pot and let it boil between 30-60 minutes depending how dark you want the color to be. Mine boiled for around 30 min (I'm way too impatient to wait longer than neccessary :)) You have to mix some times so that the tea bags doesn't make darker spots on the fabric.
  • 10 mins before you take out the dress, put around one cup of salt in the water and mix.
  • Take out the dress and rinse with cold water.
  • Put to dry, and then you're done!
If you do this I'd love to see your result, so don't you dare not telling me about it ;)
Goodnight!

Tea-dress

Now I've tried to dye with tea. I had this white dress that I never used just because it was white. And I don't really like wearing white clothes. So I decided to try what I've been wanting to try for so long. If anyone is interested, just ask and I'll make a tutorial. The funny thing is that you never know what the exact color will be until it's ready. This dress turned out to be some kind of grey-purple, I like!
Anyway this is the result:

Pocketlover

Let me introduce you to my new (or not that new actually) t-shirt that I've made. The fabric is NOT second hand, wow. But I like it anyway, I bought it in Barcelona. At first when I hadn't added the pocket, I thought the t-shirt looked a little boring because of the simple shape of it. But then I added the little yellow fake skin pocket and now I love it. Pockets are the best thing in the world, I put them on everything. Even t-shirts apparently.

More shorts

I'm really into making shorts these days and here is my latest pair. Highwaisted with fake leather pockets. I'm really proud of the fly zipper, which was my first one (except one I made on a pair of jeans, but that was 3 years ago and with help from a teacher) The pattern is made by me and the fabric is cotton I think, bought second hand. I really like these ones!

The top is a piece from my collection.

Today I've finished a t-shirt that I'll probably show tomorrow. I get much sewing done now that I've finished school and am unemployed. :)

Green

This is the shorts I made yesterday. They're made in some stretchy fabric from a thrift store. I used lace for the... hm, don't know what it's called... the small things that you put the belt in? Anyways, I'm not very experienced in sewing with stretch materials, but I think it turned out good!

And I don't think I have showed you this top before, have I? I made it in the beginning of the summer, before Barcelona. I have more nice pictures of it on the other computer that I'll post some day.

This outfit is all second hand too. The top is from a curtain and the shorts from some other second hand fabric. Not even the lace is new!

Something

A little something I made today. More will come some time soon.

A curtain and a sheet

So here's the shorts and the top. I'm really proud!

The shorts has an invisible zipper (which is not that invisible) in the back and lace trimmings on the pockets. The fabric is an old bed sheet from a thrift store, so this outfit is made of a curtain and a sheet :)

And they were all yellow

After one more day full of sewing, I've made a pair of yellow shorts that goes perfectly together with the top in my previous post. I love them! But you only get a sneak peek untill I have better photos of them. Here:

I hope to show more than a pocket tomorrow!

Newest

Today I've been sewing almost all day, and this is what I came up with:

A waist-short top with flowers and a contrasting black neckline with a bow. It's made from a curtain I bought second hand. And the pattern is made by me too. In my head I'm pairing the top with a pair of mustard highwaisted shorts. (working on a pair right now)

I don't know when the pictures started to become so small here on the blog, and I don't know how to change it. But if you click on them they will get larger.

Hello

Long time, no see. As you might know I've been in Barcelona for the summer. I love that city, it wasn't the last time I was there, that's for sure! I worked as an au pair, which I didn't enjoy that much, but it was ok. Anyway, the free time I had I really enjoyed, exploring Barcelona and meeting fun people.

I have way too many pictures to show all here, and right now I'm to lazy to pick out a few. So instead I'm gonna show you something I've made. And maybe some barcelona-pics will appear here in a while. I have some new and some old garments to show you, but they will have to wait (I'm on the wrong computer) So first out is a cake plate that I made out of a plate and a candlestick.

Before:

And a few minutes and a little glue later:
